As a key member of the Group Life Actuarial team you will be responsible for the implementation and development of various internal model actuarial methodologies and processes across the Life segment in response to regulatory changes under the Swiss Solvency Test (SST) regime.
In this permanent position, you will have an outstanding opportunity to contribute to key work streams developing Zurichs SST internal model processes, in particular in relation to the enhancement of the actuarial governance and process for determining the market-consistent value of liabilities and their sensitivity to key risks inherent in the underlying portfolios. You will also identify, propose and implement changes to similar economic valuation frameworks such as MCEV, Solvency II and other Zurich internal metrics in order to ensure these processes remain closely aligned. You will have the chance to shape and influence the development of the actuarial function in respect of the regulatory changes to the SST and gain detailed, first-hand insights into related processes, from a truly global perspective. You will deliver insightful analysis and justifications to support the embedding of the approaches you develop. In so doing, you will need to build effective working relationships with diverse teams across the Zurich group.


Your Role

As an Internal Model Development Actuary " Group Life Actuarial your main responsibilities will involve:

Portfolio responsibility for select life actuarial deliverables in respect of Groups SST project, primarily in relation to developing the life reserving process and expanding and enhancing the actuarial assurance framework
Support the development of risk modelling methodologies and processes in respect of quantification of life insurance risks for the internal economic capital model to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving SST regulations
Support the production of the SST regulatory reporting for the Group and the Swiss-based life entities
Provide actuarial support for the development of Group ORSA and SST external disclosure requirements
Training and support to wider teams on methodology and developments in respect of SST changes for global embedding in business units, within GLA and to non-actuarial teams
Keeping abreast of latest industry developments and best practice on life actuarial methodologies in respect of assigned aspects to provide corresponding advice and support, and inform development of methodology
Requirements

Qualified actuary
A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience of life insurance or reinsurance either in a life office or consultancy
Experience implementing medium- to large-scale actuarial change projects is required; experience in respect of implementing changes in respect of SST, Solvency II or similar economic solvency regime is a distinctive advantage
Detailed knowledge and experience of one or more economic solvency regimes e.g. Swiss Solvency Test, Solvency II or economic valuation frameworks e.g. MCEV would also be an advantage
Strong background in financial economics, statistics and / or actuarial science
Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills
Fluent English and strong communication skills, both written and oral
Highly cooperative, flexible, and enthusiastic team-player
